*A note about New Zealanders who served in other forces
Numerous New Zealanders served at Gallipoli in other forces, most notably the Australian Imperial Force (it has been estimated that 800 New Zealanders in all served with the AIF at Gallipoli). Details of place of birth or next of kin are not always included in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's cemetery registers, so it is not possible to provide a definitive list of these New Zealanders.
The names of soldiers known to have fallen while serving in other forces are to be found in the lists of fatalities on this site, which include the names of all NZEF personnel buried or commemorated at Gallipoli and men of British and Australian forces who gave New Zealand as their birthplace or had next of kin there.
Men who died of wounds after being evacuated are buried in cemeteries in Greece, Egypt, Malta, Gibraltar, and the United Kingdom and several who died in Turkish hands as prisoners of war are buried in Istanbul. The names of these soldiers can be found by searching on the CWGC website.
